About this site
What you are reading is a declaration of intent, or of intention
of intent.
My name is Xavier Cervera and I was born in Mataró, a
town near Barcelona, Catalonia,
in 1978. I started with vintage vehicles some years ago, when
we were searching for a daily driver to move up and down in the city.
We came across a black Lambretta and immediately felt in love.
After that came an Authi Morris 1100, a VW Baywindow and a Vespa
150 Sport and a 1963 Lambretta 150 Li and a Bultaco 155. In January 2007 we purchased a 1967 Splitwindow Westfalia SO-42.
With the Baywindow period I discovered the aircooled movement
and started to read literature and manuals about VW’s. I’m
not an expert, of course, but I can defend me. The Baywindow wasn’t
enough because my dream was to own a Split bus, concretely I wanted
an OG Westfalia camper. So were not many options… SO-23
and SO-34 are great, but they are rare and, of course, expensive.
So we decided for a SO-42.

After
looking for some info on the net I realised that there are no sites
exclusively dedicated to the SO-42 model. So here I am, writing
about what I called ‘the most ever copied camper all around’
or ‘the predecessor of today’s camper’.
What you will find in this site? Information about
the VW SO-42 model, about our bus, technical and non-technical articles,
pics, lots of pics of westies, vendors for specific westy stuff. And you will find a list with others SO-42s
that wanted to be registered at SO-42.com.
I hope you will enjoy this site...
